REGARDING THOSE THAT ARE ILL

• Ask family if patient wants visitors.
• Make your visit short.
• Abide by hospital rules regarding limits of visitors and time to leave. Avoid Chilul Hashem.
• Leave room when Doctor or nurse comes to help patient.
• Be considerate of patient’s roommates.
• Don’t ask many questions about the illness.
• Never read the patient’s hospital charts.
• Never tell a patient his/her Doctor is inferior.
• Don’t stare at patient’s monitors, tubes or disfigurement because of surgery.

REGARDING FAMILIES OF THE PATIENT

• Offer rides to the hospital.
• Offer to baby-sit for children.
• Offer to help with homework
• Offer to stay in hospital for an overnight shift.
• Offer to take children for lunch or supper.
